Most frame rates sat below the cap, but we did hit the limit in certain tests. The game has a built-in V-sync frame rate cap that we couldn't disable. We couldn't test in combat situations because fight sequences are very difficult to reproduce, but we believe that the Blacklake district is a fairly challenging area of the game. NWN2 is a stunningly great game with a few annoying flaws. The sorceress you meet in Neverwinter early on is a GREAT spellcaster and can throw fireballs like nobody's business. This is slower, but actually much more fun, because you don't feel limited by your main character. You'll never use any other view.Īnd as you said, just pretend you're playing Baldur's Gate, turn off the Party AI and play each character for yourself. IIRC, Bioware added the "strategic" view (or whatever the overhead, Infinity-Engine style camera is called) with a patch or with MotB. NWN2's interface and camera have actually VASTLY improved over the release. What are other people's opinions? Also, what modifications and user campaigns are Ars recommended?īasically, everything you're doing is correct. Still finding the interface a bit frustrating. I find I swap back every once and a while in wilderness areas if I'm trying to look off into the distance while moving, but I find the over the shoulder view horrible in any indoor situation as I can't get the angle or zoom levels right. I also swapped to moving by mouse click instead of driving by keyboard. Turned off the companion AI, started pausing combat to queue up actions, and in general started playing it using a top down view. I changed tactics and views last night (I've been playing the 3rd person over the shoulder type view) and started playing it like Baldur's Gate.
Second, I found trying to play it like I played NWN made me frustrated. First, I found I was fighting the interface and the AI for part members. I picked up the Gold edition so I've got Mask of the Betrayer, but didn't want to jump straight into a high level campaign. I'm playing the main campaign, which isn't up to par compared to the user created stuff for NWN, but it's massively better than I felt the main campaign was for Neverwinter Nights. Finally picked this up and playing it after enjoying the first for a long time thanks to Fan created content.
